The MB Awards started in 2006 after Michael Benson who had Spinal Muscular Atrophy sadly passed away two
months before his 16th birthday. His friends felt that Michael should be remembered for his achievements.
He was a wheelchair user who approached his life with enthusiasm and determination. He wanted to try
everything, often suggesting to adapt activities so that he could participate.
Michael was then and is now an inspiration and his memory will live on through these Awards
SNAPS are pleased to be able to hold the 19th MB Awards ceremony this year.
Due to demand please give others who have not previously been nominated the opportunity to receive
an Award. To ensure this, could nominees only be nominated in only one of the four categories?
The categories are:
| Personal Achievement: | Any skill or development achieved by a child / young person with a disability or additional need.
|
| Sporting Achievement: | Any child/young person with a disability or additional need who has achieved a new sporting skill or has joined a sports centre.
|
| Supporting Someone: | A young person or adult who has been a good support to a child/young person with a disability or additional need or their family members.
|
| Teamwork: | A group of young people for working well together. |
The Nomination form should contain information about how the nominated person or team has made the
achievement or helped someone in a supporting role.
We would like to limit the nomination to 50 words, as each nomination is read out and this takes time!
All nominations and booking form must reach us by Friday 25th September 2026.
Nominations reaching us after this date will sadly not be able to be included in this year’s MB Awards

You may still be able attend the MB awards without nominating or being nominated.
Booking is essential as we need to know the total number attending for catering and fire regulation purposes.
Sadly you will not be allowed entrance on the night if you have not already booked with SNAPS.
